BMW S55 charge pipes live in a tight, high-heat engine bay and carry pressurized air from the turbochargers to the charge cooler. If you are replacing the factory plastic pipes on an F87 M2 Competition, F80 M3 or F82/F83 M4, the practical choice is not simply “carbon or aluminum.” Construction, fitment, included hardware, appearance and service terms all matter.
This guide compares two direct-checkout options currently offered by EuroCustomsPR: the Eventuri matte-carbon set and the MMX crinkle-black aluminum kit.
Quick answer
- Choose Eventuri when prepreg carbon construction, tight engine-bay fitment and a matte-carbon finish are the priority.
- Choose MMX when you want a lower-priced aluminum direct-replacement kit with pre-tapped ports for a future water or methanol-injection setup.
Eventuri vs MMX S55 charge pipes
| Feature | Eventuri | MMX Performance |
|---|---|---|
| Primary construction | High-temperature prepreg carbon fiber | Mandrel-bent aluminum |
| Finish | Matte carbon | Crinkle black |
| Connection reinforcement | CNC-machined turbo flanges and embedded stainless-steel clamp rings | CNC connections with constant-diameter pipework |
| Included hardware | Oil-resistant silicone couplers and marine-grade stainless-steel clamps | Three pipes, three silicone couplers, C-clip and required clamps |
| Extra provision | Optional painted raised-logo customization is described on the product page | Each pipe includes a pre-tapped 1/8-inch port |
| Service note | Not returnable once opened; warranty and transit-damage support apply | One-year manufacturer defect warranty |
Fitment comes first
Both kits are designed for the S55 engine used in the BMW F87 M2 Competition, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4. Eventuri also explicitly lists the M2 CS, M3 CS and M4 CS. The MMX kit does not fit the original N55-powered F87 M2. Confirm the chassis and engine before ordering; model name alone is not enough.

Why choose the Eventuri carbon set?
Eventuri uses multi-layer prepreg carbon with an approximately 2 mm wall thickness, CNC-machined turbo flanges and embedded stainless-steel rings at the clamp areas. The rigid construction lets the shape stay tightly controlled around the engine cover, hood and neighboring intake components. Its matte-carbon finish is also the more visible engine-bay upgrade of the two.

Why choose the MMX aluminum kit?
MMX uses smooth-bore, mandrel-bent aluminum pipework with a constant internal diameter and a crinkle-black finish. The kit includes three pipes and the required couplers, clip and clamps. Pre-tapped 1/8-inch ports on both charge pipes make it the more flexible choice for owners planning a later water or methanol-injection system.

Which one should you buy?
Buy the Eventuri set for carbon construction, a premium engine-bay finish and its reinforced clamp-area design. Buy the MMX kit for an aluminum solution, injection-port flexibility and a lower purchase price. Both are supplier-tracked through the store, but availability can change, so use the live product page as the source of truth before checkout.
Before installation
- Verify that the car has the S55 engine.
- Review the included hardware list before disassembly.
- Inspect coupler seating, clamp placement and clearance around the engine cover and hood.
- Review the product-specific return, warranty and emissions notices before opening or installing the kit.
